What is ChemE Car?
Chem-E-Car is a team competition based on designing and constructing a miniature car powered by a chemical energy source. This shoe-box-sized car is capable of safely carrying a specific load over a given distance during a competition, with our team competing on behalf of UT Austin at both the regional and national AIChE conferences. The regional competition occurs in Lubbock around spring time, and nationals will be held in Orlando in the early fall.
Why Join?
Joining our Chem-E-Car team gives you an opportunity to get hands-on technical experience, collaborate and bond with like-minded college students, and most importantly represent UT at both the regional and national level. Even if you have no prior experience, our team will slowly help you learn how chemical reactions create practical power, how the wirings of a typical car work, and how to engineer a nationally-competitive vehicle. Join us on our paid regional and national trips to locations like Orlando and Miami, create lasting friendships with the other students in our team, and get ready to compete at the highest level!
